NOW!
Do it now! One of the worst things we can do is delay making a change for the good. If I am on a trip from Chicago to Los Angeles and I start toward Boston, the longer I keep going toward Boston, the longer I am making my trip to Los Angeles.
Bad habits are the same as going to Boston (in the example above, nothing against Boston). The sooner you can correct your course, the sooner you will get to your destination.
I think about this often as even though I wish I would have admitted I was an alcoholic sooner and started my recovery, I’m grateful I didn’t wait any longer. I am currently 7 years sober, and I think what would have happened if I had kept going on the path, I was on for another year or two? I would have dug myself a deeper hole and reduced the time to get back on track.
If I drank for two more years, I would only have 5 years of recovery and all the good that has come with it AND I would have been starting from a lower point. Really, I would have been two years worse off and after 5 years of recovery from that deeper hole, I would now be where I was 4 years ago (after 3 years of recovery instead of 7). Sorry for all the math, buy hopefully you get my point…DO IT NOW!!!
Course correct ASAP!! Get to your destination sooner!!
