Find Peace in Your Life
As I work with Christmas music playing in the background, a familiar lyric catches my attention:

“Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”
— Sy Miller and Jill Jackson
The holiday season is meant to be a time of peace, joy, and goodwill. Yet, looking around, it’s easy to feel troubled by the conflict, despair, and hatred that seem so prevalent in our world. This contrast makes me wonder: how much of the turmoil we see is a reflection of what we feel inside ourselves?
When we focus on dissatisfaction or negativity in our own lives, we may unintentionally seek out others to share in our misery—so we don’t feel alone. This can create a “misery community,” where negativity grows and spreads. But what if, instead, we choose to focus on what is good in our lives? By nurturing peace, love, and understanding within ourselves, we can attract more of these qualities and help them flourish around us.
“The only way to bring peace to the earth is to learn to make our own life peaceful.”
— Gautama Buddha
I am grateful for the important people in my life, the laughter and smiles we share, the generosity I witness, and the modern conveniences that make daily living easier. These gifts bring me peace. During this holiday season, I encourage you to reflect on what brings you peace and joy. Focus on those things and let them grow within you.

Consider:
Taking a moment today to list the things in your life that bring you peace. Share your gratitude with someone else and notice how it changes your perspective—and maybe theirs, too.
Wishing you a peaceful and joyful holiday season!
