Election Lessons
First and foremost, please note that despite the title of this blog, this is not a political post. This is a post about something I hold near and dear – learning.
I’m reflecting on the outcome of the election and attempting to learn from others. I am trying to understand why someone would vote for (or perhaps against) one candidate or the other. I am listening and not speaking – I’m sure you’ve heard the adage that we were given two ears and one mouth for a reason – to spend twice as much time listening as we do talking. We learn from others by listening to them. It is by listening and learning that we gain knowledge.
If you’ve read Change Your Thinking, Ignite Your Life or Staying Lit, you are aware that I place a high value on being willing to change my perspective and allow it to grow as I gain knowledge.
So, rather than join the fray on politics, I am listening (except for writing this non-partisan blog) to learn. I am listening to understand. I am listening with a willingness to allow my perspective to grow. I am listening because growth requires change. Without change, there is no growth and without growth we don’t become better versions of ourselves.
Thank you for listening!
