Have you ever paused long enough to ask yourself, “Why I Am”?
I hadn’t—not in any meaningful way—until 2009, when Dave Matthews Band released a song called “Why I Am.” Something about those three simple words caught my attention. For the first time, I felt invited to look deeper, to ask a question most of us are too busy or too unsure to even whisper.

Since then, that question has become a quiet companion in my life. My answer shifts as I grow, learn, have new experiences – as I stumble, as I rise, and as new doors open. And that’s the beautiful part—your “why” isn’t meant to be fixed. It’s meant to evolve as you do.
But knowing even a piece of my purpose has changed the way I live. It gives intention to my days. It shapes the choices on my to do list. It reminds me to move toward the life I’m meant to build, not just the life that happens by default.
And every time I look back, I see evidence that this practice—this gentle commitment to honoring my “why”—has carried me forward in ways I couldn’t always see in the moment.

So let me turn these questions to you:
Do you know your why?
Are you working toward achieving your why?
Because the moment you start seeking it, something shifts.
And that shift might just change everything.
